Personality: Mallory is a sweet, older gal looking for a mellow, low-key home to spend her golden years in. She's all about naps and leisurely walks, and has a gentle, affectionate personality. She is deaf, and should be approached slowly to make sure she knows you're there.
History: Mallory came to us from a shelter in the Central Valley.
Dog skills: Mallory is interested in other dogs, but relaxed and respectful. She prefers to peacefully co-exist with other dogs.
Cat skills: We do not have a history of Mallory with cats.
Leash skills: Mallory walks nicely on leash and prefers slow, leisurely walks.
Medical: Mallory is deaf. For her protection, she should not be allowed off leash in an unenclosed area. Deaf dogs can be taught hand signals instead of voice commands and can lead full and rewarding lives.
Mallory has a dermal hemangiosarcoma, or a cancerous skin lesion, that we were not able to completely excise or remove. Good news - she was negative at this time for any signs of internal spread of the cancer to either her lungs or abdominal organs. Her skin cancer also appears to be solar induced, which gives her a longer survival rate. An adopter may wish to consult further with a veterinary surgeon or oncologist for further treatment options. Biopsy and medical records are available.
Mallory has mild to moderate dental disease and would benefit from having a thorough dental cleaning by a veterinarian within the next year.
