I've been adopted!
About me
I am part of Clear the Shelters! My adoption fee has been reduced to $20.

Personality: Raj Mathai is a tall, dark and handsome boy looking for an active home that can keep up his love for life. He is a high energy boy in need of lots of exercise (walking, hiking, running) and mental enrichment (training, puzzle toys, scent work). Raj Mathai would benefit from basic obedience classes, he is treat motivated and very willing to learn new things. He would love an adult, active, experienced home that has worked with large, rowdy dogs before.
Raj Mathai's adoption includes a post-adoption training scholarship that can be used for a one-on-one training session with a certified trainer to help address any undesired behaviors.

History: Raj Mathai came to us from a shelter in Central Valley. He was adopted into a home with young children where his exuberance was too much so he was surrendered back to us.

Dog Skills: Raj Mathai gets excited upon seeing other dogs, especially if he is on leash or behind a fence. He expresses his excitement by barking and pulling towards the dog of interest. He has shown a lot of progress when he is walked behind another dog and only allowed to say hello and interact once he has calmed down. It is highly recommended that Raj Mathai's adopters work with a positive reinforcement trainer who can help with his reaction towards other dogs.

Cat Skills: Raj Mathai will chase a cat if the opportunity presents itself.

Leash Skills: Raj Mathai is a very strong boy and pulls on the leash when he is excited or when he wants to approach another dog. It is recommended that adopters use a front-clip harness or head-halter to help him learn loose leash walking.
