About me
Ted Baxter is part of the Betty White Challenge. His adoption fees are waived!

Ted Baxter is an outgoing cat who seek attention and loves to get head and cheek scratches. He also enjoys leaning on your legs and lazy play with his wand toy. Ted Baxter needs plenty of breaks during petting sessions and regular play therapy. Ted Baxter would do best in a quiet home, so that he is not overwhelmed in a new environment. We highly recommend a slow transition into a new home to set him up for success! My care has been sponsored by Lucy Mathis!

Ted Baxter is part of our Diamond in the Ruff program and must be introduced by staff. Come on down to the shelter to meet him, or complete an application to schedule an appointment! Fill out the form to request an appointment

History: Owner surrender
Cat/Dog Skills: No history with other animals.
Medical: Health Alert- See Description Provided

10/12/21 Health Waiver: Previous urinary obstruction.

This cat was brought to HSSV with a urethral obstruction (a blockage of the tube he urinates from) which prevented him from urinating and is a life-threatening emergency.
We placed a urinary catheter to remove the blockage and treated him with fluids and medications for several days as the inflammation resolved. We have placed him on a diet of canned food only to reduce his chances of blocking again in the future. While some cats have a single episode of obstruction, unfortunately, other cats can re-obstruct. If re-obstruction were to occur, the urinary catheterization can be repeated. However, if the obstructions continue to occur, some cats can require involved surgery to widen their urethra.

For Ted Baxter, this blockage has not reoccurred since his initial treatment in mid-October. The adopting family should continue providing the following care for this cat:
Continue canned food only and promote water consumption (a drinking water fountain can be used).
Monitor this cats urinary habits on a daily basis.
