About me
Personality: Chewy has become a lively and mischievous member of the household. He had forgotten a little of the potty training when he first came home but is now happy to go outside on a specific area of grass, he is very picky! He does not pee or poop on walks. He has a big appetite and eats all he is given quickly and will even eat the cat food if it is left out. He sleeps in the crate at night but wants to be near his person. He can go in the crate for short periods during the day, but complains a little at first. Chewy is very friendly, he wants to be with his person, either on them or right beside them. He doesn't bark a lot and loves to be handled and cuddled. His personality is just emerging and he likes to steal shoes and socks, twigs, and the occasional flower! Chewy will respond to "no" and " ah ahh" He is very quick to learn and has settled very quickly into the family.

Dog/Cat Skills: Chewy has been living in a fairly quiet household with a large dog and a cat. He is not at all nervous about either one. The dog outweighs him by 75 pounds and Chewy likes to sit or sleep between her paws. The cat outweighs him too, but Chewy is friendly and unafraid.

Leash Skills: Chewy has been going for two short walks every day. He is keen to go out and likes to explore the neighborhood. He tends to walk ahead but is very easy to handle on a leash.

Medical: Chewy arrived at HSSV with a history of broken ribs. X-rays were taken that showed multiple rib fractures from an unknown prior trauma. Since rib fractures heal on their own, surgery was not pursued. He was placed in a quiet foster home for 4 weeks to allow the ribs to heal, however, it will take additional time before the bones are as strong as before the accident. He should be restricted to leash walks only for an additional 2 weeks. He should also not be allowed to jump on and off furniture, out of the car or people's arms, etc.
