About me
Personality: Nikki is a lovely older gal that still has lots of pep in her step. She's a social girl that lives to crawl into laps and loves to cuddle on the couch. Nikki also enjoys the company of other calm dogs. Nikki has done well around older children and other small dogs. She loves treats and will stand on her back legs like a tiny kangaroo begging for more. She's initially nervous when left home alone but settles into her crate and naps after a few moments. She is housetrained but may need to get used to a new home and learn where she should go potty.

History: Nikki came to us as a stray. She spent some time in a foster home with a larger dog, cat, and two adults. She was very social with the people and enjoyed the company of the other small dog but was nervous around the larger dog and tried to chase the cat.

Dog/Cat Skills: Nikki participates regularly in playgroups. She peacefully coexists with the other dogs, will politely greet other dogs, and sometimes corrects more forward or rude behavior. She's been cohoused with multiple dogs with no issues observed while in our care. In her foster home, Nikki was afraid of the larger dog and would bark to tell them to go away. She would try to chase the cat and would bark at him as well.

Leash Skills: Nikki walks well on a leash.

Medical: Nikki has been diagnosed with periodontal disease (also known as dental disease). Nikki had a dental cleaning at HSSV. At that time the patient was anesthetized and, given the severity of her dental disease, all the teeth were removed. Nikki is still eating wet food well and we highly recommend a soft food diet for her long term.
