About me
Personality: Mia is a shy girl who has made lots of progress in our care. With people she knows and who have gained her trust, she will immediately get wiggly, excited, and do a happy dance. She will bounce at your legs, follow you around, and ask for some neck scratches. If she is not comfortable with you, she will run away, hide, and try to avoid you. However, if she is introduced to new people with a familiar dog and person, she will be immediately more curious and come say "hi."

History: Mia was transferred from the Fresno shelter where she had been brought in as a stray. She arrived with a litter of newborn puppies.

Dog Skills: Mia is the most confident when there are other dogs around. She has done well with dogs who are calm and can allow her to warm up to them. She can get overwhelmed initially with more forward behavior but has become more social and playful over time. It is mandatory that Mia go home with another dog.

Cats Skills: No history of living with cats.

Leash Skills: Mia does not yet walk on leash. She is working on building her comfort with it being placed on her and having it drag as she explores the yard. Once Mia is confidently allowing the leash put on her, the next step is picking up the leash and walking with another confident canine companion. Having immediate access to an enclosed yard will be necessary in helping provide Mia a safe space to build her confidence on leash and have access for potty training.
