Personality: Izzy is the definition of a sweetheart! She has a wonderful, gentle, and loving personality and loves nothing more than snuggling up with her humans. At first meetings, she can be a bit nervous, but she warms up quickly. She is house trained now, but she had some accidents inside when she first came home. She was initially nervous about going in the backyard by herself to do her business, but after she went to the bathroom outside once, we got really excited, and ever since then, she has been going to the bathroom outside and then sprinting inside, so excited that she did a good job. She hasn't gone to the bathroom on a walk yet, but since she was recovering from a paw injury while in foster care, her walks on a leash were limited.
History: In foster care, Izzy has been living with two adults and our adopted dog (75lb pittie - HSSV alum). We haven't introduced her to kids or new humans in our home because of COVID, but when she has met humans outside the home, she has done really well. She does get a little nervous when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly. She is like our little shadow now and loves to cuddle up whenever possible.
Dog/Cat Skills: We have only introduced her to our dog, and she did really well with that. She was a little timid on introduction, but she quickly became comfortable. We have found that she is definitely more focused on humans than dogs, but she has taken a lot of queues and learned a lot from our dog (how to get the most treats and get up on the couch etc). She can sometimes get a little jealous if we pay more attention to our dog than to her, but she is learning to share more and more every day. We have not introduced her to cats or small animals Izzy
Leash Skills: Izzy has been on limited walks because she was recovering from a paw injury in foster care, but she has become SO much more comfortable and confident on leash through the walks she has had. She can be a bit scared going out the door and also gets scared if there is too much commotion on the walks, but given the progress we have seen, I think that she will continue to gain confidence as her paw heals and she has more fun walks in the future.
Medical: Izzy came to us with a severe wound on her front right paw. Her middle digit was mostly missing and a complete amputation of the toe has been performed. She has healed very well from her wounds and no further treatment is anticipated.
