I've been adopted!
About me
Personality: Desi is a sweet but shy girl who has made lots of progress since she first arrived at HSSV. Once she knows a person and trusts them she is so happy to see them and she will try to get attention and ask for booty scratches. With people that she isn't comfortable with she won't approach, might run away and hide. It does take her time to trust someone especially if she is left alone with the unfamiliar person. But when we introduce her to new people all she needs is a person she knows with her as well as one of her canine buddies, and she comes around much quicker is is more willing to say hello to the new person.

History: Desi does best in low-key adult only home and can dedicate time to help her get comfortable. Desi was adopted and spent many moths in a great home where her adopter was very dedicated, gained her trust and taught her how to walk on leash. Unfortunately she had to be returned back to us because the resident dog was getting increasingly more upset with Desi's high energy and willingness to always play. She transitioned back into shelter environment seamlessly.

Dog Skills: Desi is the most confident when other dogs are around, even ones she doesn't know yet. He takes a second to get to know new dogs but once she has gotten he initial introduction, she will start to play-bow and initiate play with every dog she meets. She is young and very energetic and wants to play chase and wrestle with dogs so the resident dog should be able to match her energy and enjoy rough and tumble play. It is mandatory that Desi goes to house with at least one other dog in home.

Cat Skills: when Desi was first with us she was in a foster home with a dog-savvy cat and they would play and roughhouse together.

Leash Skills: Desi is getting better and better about walking on a leash. She does still get scared if she is walked in busy environment with many people and cars approaching and she does best in quiet parks or trails. Walking with another dog that she knows helps Desi feel more confident and she is less likely to act very skittish. She is sensitive to harness being placed over her head and needs work to be desensitized to getting harness put on her. Having immediate access to an enclosed yard will be necessary in helping provide Desi a safe space to keep building her confidence on leash and have access for potty training.
