Hi, my name is Camille. I am an affectionate, playful dog looking for a loving home. I enjoy long walks, lounging in the sun, and playing fetch or tug. I get along just fine with older children and other dogs. While it is great fun to romp around with my canine friends, I am also perfectly content to be the one and only dog in your house. I am potty trained, crate trained and know some basic commands. I'm motivated to learn more - you just need to teach me! When you first meet me, I may not be able to hold back my excitement, but give me a day or two to adjust to my new surroundings and you'll be amazed at how much I settle down. I like my routine and as long as I get in enough exercise / outdoor play, I am perfectly happy just relaxing by your feet.
From Camille's foster parents: Camille is potty-trained. She let us know she has to go during the day by sitting in front of the back door or pacing in a circle. She sleeps in a crate overnight with no issues (doors closed), and voluntarily goes into her crate for her afternoon nap (door opened). She seems fond of her crate, especially if the treat fairy shows up.
We left her alone 1 time for about 2 hours. She was crated during this time, with no complaints and settled into nap mode immediately. Prior to crating, we made sure she went potty and had plenty of exercise. While introducing her to our house, we left her in the kitchen while in the next room for small blocks of time. Once she settled down she did fine. As she was taught what was okay to do and not okay to do, she earned the privilege of being able to roam throughout the house. She loves being around people and other dogs.
Off leash, Camille played beautifully with my dog. They took turns chasing each other, tugging on ropes and sniffing around the yard together. On leash, Camille walked past dogs of all shapes and sizes without any pulling or reactivity. She politely greeted other dogs that approached her on leash with standard tail wag and sniff. Camille would gladly chase squirrels or cats given the opportunity! Camille played nicely with my two children, age 10 and 12. They did a lot of chase and fetch. Camille is very affectionate and loves belly rubs, under the chin rubs and snuggle time. She does best when play was at or above her height. She is not a big fan of delivery people or people that surprise her; likely correctable with more exposure and training. Camille is not a big barker. She is super motivated by food, play and toys. She knows sit, touch and wait (she is working on "down") when using combined verbal & hand signals. She has learned to sit and wait (up to 15 seconds) for the "ok" before going in/out of doorways or eating her meals.
