About me
Personality: Olive is the sweetest girl with the biggest smile. Despite going through some medical stuff she has kept her spirits high, is fully recovered and ready for her second chance at a loving home. As a 6 year old girl Olive still has energy to burn and she enjoys long walks and hikes. Olive has enjoyed going on 2 mile runs with our volunteer's and was described as the "perfect running dog". After a long walk or run she loves nothing more than cuddle and get belly rubs. Her favorite pass time aside from sleeping is playing with squeaky plush toys! SHe will play with all and any toy as long as it makes squeaky noise.
Post-adoption scholarship sponsored by Pedigree Foundation.

Olive's care has been sponsored by Nick Torres!

History: Olive came to us from San Jose shelter in need of some medical services.

Dog Skills: We believe that Olive would do best in a home with NO other dogs or cats. Olive gets aroused very quick around other dogs and will try to initiate inappropriate contact by jumping on the dog, vocalizing and using her mouth. We believe that she would do best in a home as the only pet Her future adopters should work with positive reinforcement trainer to build up Olive's dog skills if they are interested in having her interact with other canines.

Cat Skills: Olive is very interested in cats and will chase them if opportunity presents itself. Best to go home with no cat or other small animals.

Leash Skills: Olive can be reactive on leash when she sees other dogs and potential adopters should know how to re-direct this behavior and not allow Olive to practice the reactivity.

Medical: Heart Murmur. This dog has a mild heart murmur. It is a grade 2 out of 6, where grade 1 is the quietest murmur and 6 is the loudest. While at HSSV, no signs of heart disease have been observed.
Enucleation. This dog has had her right eye surgically removed due to an untreatable ocular condition. The skin will heal together and form the appearance of a closed eye, as if she is permanently winking. Once the incision is completely healed, no further treatment will be needed. One-eyed dogs and cats go on to lead extremely full and rewarding lives.
