I've been adopted!
About me
Personality: Joe is a sweet dog that can be nervous with new people and may try to move away at first. They warm up with a quiet slow approach and prefer to be able to come up to new people at their own pace, especially when yummy treats are involved. With some time, they will eagerly greet people with a tail wag and wiggles. Once they're comfortable they're a wonderful companion. Joe would do best in an adult household that will give him time and space to warm up.

My care has been sponsored by Jean Chiar!

History: Transferred from another shelter

Dog Skills: Joe was co-housed with several other small dogs at prior source shelter with no concerns observed. While in the shelter we have seen he is very overwhelmed when in playgroups with a lot of other dogs, and with more forward/rude dogs. Would do best with a confident, polite peaceful co-exister.

Leash Skills: Joe is still learning to walk on leash and may panic or alligator roll on leash. Currently he does best with a blanket wrap being carried by our staff. However adopters should be prepared to work with a trainer on building confidence and positive association to leashing and walks. A scholarship has been provided by the Pedigree foundation.

Medical: Health Waiver: Dental Disease.
This animal has mild dental disease and may benefit from having a thorough dental cleaning with the adopter's veterinarian within the next 12 months. Dental care is an on-going process that will need to be addressed for the life of this patient. Optimal dental health is important to a pet as it helps to preserve their teeth and improves overall health. The adopting family is encouraged to discuss continuing dental care for this patient with their family veterinarian or a veterinary dentist.
