About me

Personality: Dorothy is a timid, gentle dog that needs some time to settle in when she's around new people and places. Once she is comfortable, she will follow her people around and eagerly explore. When transitioning, Dorothy does best with space and time to adjust before being handled. In a quiet, experienced home with time to adjust and a confident dog role model, Dorothy will seek out her people and show her playful self. She would do best in an adult household with experience helping shy dogs gain confidence.

History: Dorothy came to us from another shelter with nursing puppies.

Dog/Cat skills: Dorothy does well with other small, calm dogs and can get overwhelmed around forward and rowdy dogs. Dorothy will likely benefit from having a confident, calm canine role model in the home. We have no history on how Dorothy is around cats.

Leash skills: Dorothy walks on leash but she can be tentative if there is too much of a leash tension. She will benefit from having access to an enclosed yard for gaining confidence with leash walking and potty training.

Medical: Dorothy is currently being treated for an ear infection caused by a foxtail foreign body in the ear and ruptured ear drum that might have affected her hearing somewhat. Her course of treatment includes ear cleanings and the application of ear medication daily for 10 days; the ear drum will take up to 3 weeks to heal. The ear treatments should be followed by a recheck with your veterinarian.
