Personality: Shirley came in as a very fearful Momma dog with her puppies. After being separated from her puppies she has developed relationships with a circle of friends but can still be fearful of new people or environments. Once she warms up she is very social and will solicit attention on her own terms. She has a very cute silly personality and enjoys sun bathing, chasing stuffie toys and learning how to do touch and sit for yummy treats. She does not enjoy being touched yet and is learning to accept petting and leashing using desensitization.
History:Shirley came into the shelter as a nursing mom from another shelter. Dog Skills: Shirley has shown discomfort with unfamiliar dogs, however when given a very slow/ multiple meet intro she has been able to make friends with one small dog. If given a proper intro Shirley would benefit from having another dog as a role model.
Cats Skills: Shirley will chase cats.
Leash Skills: Shirley currently is not comfortable with leashing and does not yet know how to walk on leash. She will need to go to an experienced home who has direct access to a secured yard and will continue to work with a trainer on counter conditioning and desensitization so she can learn how to "dog".
Medical (If Applicable): Overweight.
