Personality: Amie is a floppy-eared, sweet and sensitive dog who thrives on a predictable routine and lots of exercise. She can be tentative with new people, but once she knows them well, is very affectionate. Her foster mom let us know Amie leans in to gently solicit pets, and does "bunny hops" to greet her! Amie is a great walking or jogging buddy - her foster mom says that she can job for anywhere between 30-60 minutes at a time. She has a lot of energy, but with regular walks or a few minutes of intense running, will become tired and will comfortably lay on her dog bed while her foster mom works. She is house trained, great at riding in the car, and is slowly getting more comfortable with meeting people. She is in the process of crate training, and has been successfully left up to 30 minutes at a time.
History: Amie came to us from a shelter in the Central Valley. She is currently in a foster home.
Dog Skills: Amie has met multiple small and medium-sized dogs, and is very bouncy and eager to play. Her play style can be too much for some dogs, but does well with confident, playful dogs. Amie would benefit from a canine role model to help increase her confidence and run some of her energy out.
Cat Skills: Amie is very focused on cats and will try to chase them when on walks.
Leash Skills: Amie pulls very hard on leash, and will benefit from regularly using a harness for walks. In Amie's foster home, her mom combines exercise with focus exercises (watch me) treats and treat games like "find it" and praise. It has increased her confidence on walks.
